Virtually finished the Warehouse Block from my housing build. I'm not hugely happy with it to be honest. I over did the rust on the roof and I'm not sure it looks right. It's finished though, and it looks okay, Sorry to have bombarded the blog with Terrain building stuff over the last few days, I know its not massively interesting.
Cheers
I think you're being too hard on yourself. It looks good.
ReplyDeleteCheers Mate, I've probably just been staring at it too long.
DeleteSmillie you are wrong on both counts, the rust on the roof looks just right and terrain is as an important part of wargaming as the figures themselves and I part which people often forget. Until this project for partizan I had a few buildings and now I have grass mats, trees, hedges and even a duck pond. Now I just need roads and I am finished, lol. Actually thats down to you chap.
ReplyDeleteThanks PZ your a gent. I'm going cheap and cheerful on the roads, if I can get some 3mm MDF tomorrow I'll make a start.
DeleteGot to agree on both points, and I have seen far rusty roofs in the real world
DeleteNot enough terrain on blogs if you ask me. Back when I left wargaming 20 odd years ago terrain was very much last thought and it showed. Now it's much better

Yes that's true, we have all walked past buildings with roofs so rusty its amazing they are still up. I does seem the case that quite often Terrain is an after thought.
DeleteThis is very fine modeling, Mr. Smillie. It looks great now, and I predict that it will be an eye-catcher when it is erected on the tabletop.
ReplyDeleteCheers Jay, I hope so.
DeleteIt's a damn nice piece of terrain mate.
ReplyDeleteThanks Fran, I've been picking away at it so long I'm probably just going boggle eyed.
DeleteI've got to say that I rather like the amount of rust and might even be bold enough to suggest that a little more wouldn't go amiss! As for terrain building being boring - rubbish Sir, I love to see the results of your labours.
