News Flash

My blog will probably be quiet for a while (although I will update with some thing) as I have just secured a 3 month contract dealing with flood claims in Thailand based in Bangkok. This came out of the blue when another UK based 6 month contract ended and an old employer asked me to fly out to Thailand at the end of this week.

The money is insanely good and its a bit of an adventure as I haven't been to Thailand before. I won't however be doing much (if any) model painting over the next 3 months as I will be working 6 day weeks while I am away and wont really have time for much painting.

But when I get back my financial position will be waaaaay better so I will probably be topping up the lead pile over the next few months so I can get on with some serious painting on return.

In the interim I'll post snaps and anything interesting from my work abroad here.

German LMG Support

I've been distracted by online gaming lately (ARMA2 with a clan that likes to play tactically) but I have managed to paint up another two of my German infantry figures. I painted up the helmet of the rifleman with a different camo pattern as the helmet has been sculpted as though it has a cloth cover.

Just another two of these German infantry figures to go and then on to some snowy bases for them!

Cats, dictators in waiting

I thought as I have been slacking and not painted anything lately I would upload something else of the wifes. The scan has washed some of the the colour tone out but its still great looking. My wife and I are always joking that our Cat Loki is just waiting to smother me with a pillow and take over the world (lucky he has no opposable thumbs really).

The wife painted this a while back and I pulled it out of our little archive. I will attempt to try and get on with some more painting soonish. In other news my carers grant was approved so it looks like I can go to Partizan this year after all (and clean out my currently empty house at the same time so I can get it out to rent).

Support Iron Sky

Just thought I would hop on my soap box this morning as I received an email advising me that the distributor (revolver) for this bloody funny looking film has decided that it will only be released in the UK for one day. This is obviously plainly stupid. The team that have produced the film are trying to get a wider and longer UK release and have setup a website to ask for the film to be released in your area.

Go here http://www.ironsky.net/site/support/how-to-support/ and sign up to show your support and get this film released to your area. I for one have signed up as me, my wife and Dad all want to go and see this and currently its not being released (it seems) in Aberdeen.

The wife's back catalogue

As some of you may know my wife is an accomplished artist, equally as some of you may know she is suffering from a work related upper limb condition which has made it almost impossible for her to continue painting, although she occasionally manages to complete a small piece. As I am endlessly proud of her abilities and work I thought I would get on my soap box and post some scans of some illustrations/paintings she has completed in the past.

This is a water colour painting of an Egyptian Horus head which she painted four or five years ago. I love it although the scan doesn't do it justice.

I'm going to intermittently post a scan of a past bit of her work over the next few days/weeks.

A couple more rifles

I've not done much painting over the last week, I don't really know why just work and life stress seems to have gotten in the way. But I have managed to find the time to paint up another two of my Artizan German Infantry. Again I'm happy with the finish and how they look generally. I have another four to paint to complete the squad, then I'm thinking of basing them on wintry bases for a bit of a change.
