Ogre

After a break of around 1.5 years I've finally got back into painting. I'm not doing much just painted up this Ogre Miniature from Scibor Miniatures. Great figure, with really really good detail. Was a real pleasure to paint, and the great quality made picking up the old skills much easier! 

I am particularly pleased with how the sword scabbard and satchel cover turned out. Both look seriously dragon scale like. At least to me anyway. 

Ork Kebab

I have had this model of a wounded ork knocking around for a while now ( I think he came as an "extra" in another GW kit) but I didn't know what to do with him. As I didn't have anything else to paint this afternoon I sat down and came up with this little diorama. I really like how it turned out, especially as I don't paint GW fantasy miniatures very often.

I spent a little time making one of the Skeletons eyes glow, which I think looks quite good and gives the model a bit of an evil look.

I think I might build a slightly larger base to mount this on in the future, but I'm happy with it for the moment.

Charge!

Just finished painting this guy, my last fantasy figure for a while I think. He joins the other fantasy figures I've painted on a shelf probably never to be used for anything other than looking at.

Helmet or Skull?

Painted up another fantasy figure. Bits from a couple of different sets so I can add this guy to my small (and slightly mental looking) Mordheim warband. I decided to paint the whole helmet to look like bone.

A not so loyal retainer

I spent this evening painting up this model. He comes with the Games Workshop Giant model. I added the sword and bags to the belt and he will eventually end up as part of a small Diorama that I'm working on.

He's painted up as the peasant retainer of a knight or similarly important individual. I was really pleased with how he turned out as I do not paint fantasy models very often. I was particularly pleased with the face as I took the time to paint the little boil on his face and had a bash at the eyes, which turned out okay if I do say so my self. Although my rather shoddy camera work doesn't really do the model justice.

Not really suitable for chopping wood

I was going to paint up four more WW1 infantry figures for my VBCW force but I got a bit distracted when I  found this model in a cupboard. I knocked him together a year or so ago, undercoated him and never got round to painting this model up. 

So like yesterdays model I decided to paint him up to fit in with my Mordheim Warband. He's a conversion of a GW Empire bowman and some High Elf parts. All in all I like the look, especially the rather large Axe which I doubt is designed for chopping fire wood.

An old sword

I was at a bit of a loss this afternoon and put this guy together from some bits in my modelling cupboard. I wanted this guy to look like a grizzled fighter so he's got a badly notched sword and a shield taken from a fallen enemy. This guy will go in well with another 5 guys I have previously painted up in a similar style as part of a Mordheim Warband.
Back to painting up WW1/VBCW figures on Monday as I have another 4 guys to paint up as part of my force.

A change from our scheduled viewing

I found this guy at the back of my miniatures drawer. I think I painted him in a moment of boredom a while back. For some reason this little snotling always makes me laugh, I have some more of these tiny fellows in my model box I might have to paint up another couple even though I have no real use for the models.

Glowing eyes

This is my first go at a bit of directional lighting. I wanted to try and make it look as though there was a bit of glowing light coming from my skeletons eyes. I doubt I will do it to all rank and file, but thought it might look cool for the unit champion. Also I just wanted to try a technique I hadn't tried before, I'm pleased with my first go next time I think I will try and make a gem or bottle glow.

the colour of death

Well thats me painted a load of heads/bodies legs arms and other bits. All  I have to do is undercoat the shields (as I ran out of undercoat when I last sprayed the sprues). At this point once assembled I will have 13 completed skellies.

I have another load of bodies to do which will bring the total unit upto 25 skellies including command. I've really enjoyed painting them so far and by painting them on the sprues I've really been able to churn out the models, usually it would take me ages to paint 13 instead its only taken me two quick days.

I've really enjoyed painting the skellies so I'll be continuing with my Tomb Kings army, im thinking chariots next.

The dead cometh

After many months painting things blue for my Imperial Guard army I fancied a break. So I thought I would have a go at a Tomb Kings army. I've not had much success at horde army's in the past but I have always fancied having an undead force and I wanted to paint the "badies" for a change.

I went for a dark green as my primary colour which I think looks really good with the gold. For a change rather than spend ages constructing and then struggling to paint the model's i undercoated the sprue in white and painted everything on the sprue. This was much faster and easier than usual and now I'm going to undercoat the other sprues to finish my first batch of skellies.
